2013 Holyman Chardonnay

2010 Holyman Chardonnay

James Halliday

HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION / JULY 2015

Bright straw-green; a complex rendition of Tasmanian Chardonnay, with barrel-ferment influences to the fore on both the bouquet and palate on first acquaintance, grapefruit, almond and crunchy acidity asserting themselves on the long finish and aftertaste.  A prosperous future lies ahead.

THE WINE FRONT / 19TH NOVEMBER 2014

Love the Holyman Chardonnay. One of my top producers in Australia.

Wow. Smoke and struck match, white flower, aniseed and white fleshed fruit, gentle oak spice. A pretty wild ride but the palate is pitch perfect and powerful with a light gloss of honeycomb and almond, tight mineral acid, grapefruit, lime and a long flinty saline finish. Pretty funky and smoky, but so well defined and so good to drink: the fruit matches the winemaking work. Such personality. Superb. Wow.
