2012 Holyman Project X Pinot Noir

Holyman Project X

Gary Walsh

THE WINE FRONT / DECEMBER 2014

For a guy who looks like he combs his hair with a fork every morning, Joe Holyman is making some very stylish and captivating wines. This is 100% whole bunch and 100% new oak, neither of which are particularly obvious when tasting it.  Raspberries dusted in cinnamon, also, pepper, mint/aniseed and whole bunch spice.  Slinky, elegant and finely wrought, layers of spice woven through dark cherry and raspberry, subtle fine grained tannin and sappiness with super length bringing it home.  It’s not a big wine, but is deep and powerful in its own way.

Really needs cellaring to reveal its full potential.
